Helping you adjust to your evolving financial landscape as a New Partner.
- I don’t have any time, there is a lot to do to settle into being a Partner and hit the ground running, there is no time to also sort my finances!
- The firm will no longer be making pension contributions for me now that I'm self-employed! How do I know how much is a sensible amount to put into my pension?
- It’s hard to plan given variable profit share payments that often come 12 months later! I don’t understand how my income will be taxed and what payments are in which tax year?
- I’m not sure if I’m doing what I need to be financially to save for my future / my families future?
- Will my family be okay if I get ill or something happens to me? Is the insurance the Partnership provides sufficient?
- I’ve never had to invest before, I’m not sure where to start.
Secure your financial future and align your personal and professional goals.
- I’m starting to notice I have surplus income each year when I get my profit share payments - but I’m not sure how much of it I can spend and how much I should save for the future?
- I’m paid more now but I still don’t feel I have enough for my mortgage / upsizing, school fees, holidays, let alone putting money into my pension! Is this true or just poor planning?
- I never managed to get my finances / pension sorted as a new partner, is it too late?
- Being a Partner is really hard work, I’m not sure how long I can do this for. What are my options?
- Can I afford a bigger family home?
Financial planning to manage wealth, prepare for retirement and ensure a lasting legacy.
- I’m receiving very large sums each month / year now but I’m not sure if I’m on track for retirement? When can I stop / will I have enough by the point I have to retire? Do I need to do consulting?
- I’m still really enjoying work but need to re-assess what life looks like after I leave the Partnership.
- I’m conscious I really ought to look at my pensions and investments and get my house in order.
- I’d like to help my children with university fees and / or house deposits – how much can I sensibly afford to give them?
“Paradigm Norton have always given sound advice and wise counsel and not simply on where we should make investments. This has allowed me to focus on my career and family with complete peace of mind that my finances are being effectively looked after.”

“We appreciate having an adviser who understands the Partnership model, understands we lead busy lives and has the expertise and confidence to provide clear straightforward advice, when we need it. In particular, modelling our finances into the future to build a plan for life after the Partnership, and then helping us implement that plan - has been invaluable.”
Ben Kingsley
Former Partner - Slaughter and May

It all starts with this…
1. Getting to know you. You will talk us through what is important to you, what you want to get out of life and how you think about money.
2. Agree with you how best to use your capital in the short to medium term. You will gain clarity over your current finances and the options for navigating competing demands on your money.
3. Build a long-term financial plan. You will come away with a clear plan for how to finance your desired lifestyle and understand the impact of financial decisions. We’ll build this plan together.
4. Identify any insurance needs. You will understand the impact of life’s health curveballs on your financial plan.
...and then the next steps to put the plan into action
5. Assessing existing pensions and investments. You will be informed about if your existing provisions are right for you.
6. Agree an action plan for building (or accessing) your wealth. You will have a clear plan of action for what needs to be done to optimise your finances in support of your desired lifestyle.
7. Put in place any insurance required. You will receive specialist support to build resilience in your financial plan.
8. Annual planning meetings. You will be kept on track and accountable for progress towards your desired goals. We’ll revisit the plan and adapt it to new legislation, changes in your goals or circumstances.
“The financial side is taken care of and I don't need to worry about that ”

How are we different?
- We have worked with Law partners for over 20 years, we are well-versed in the nuances and challenges of being a Partner in a law firm.
- We don’t assume to know what is important to you, or force any of our services on you – we’ll be led by your needs and priorities.
- We’re small enough that you will receive a personalised service, that we’re not ‘clock-watching’, and you will feel part of our community. Yet we’re large enough that we have the resource and scale to provide dedicated technical support to our advisers, be proactive in developing our service and benefit from negotiated discounts with third parties.
- We still do all the things you’d expect from a good financial planning firm, well – such as communicating clearly, putting the client first, etc.
- Philippa has worked in the law profession for 20 years, with a focus on litigation in the financial advice space. When the opportunity arose to lead Paradigm Norton, it was clearly a perfect match.
- We’re proud to be both a B Corp and Employee Owned, which we believe evidences our commitment to people, our integrity and a desire to do the right thing by people. It also helps us attract and retain the best Partners in the business. We’re focused on the individual, one of our four values is ‘People matter’.
- As we are employee owned, we don’t have shareholders to satisfy next quarter or an individual owner looking for an exit. One of our four key values is to ‘build for the future’. Thinking long-term as a business ensures we’re aligned with our clients, who are focused on their long-term future, not the next quarter. Being an EOT offers some protection against a sale to a large insurer or organisation that may not have the same client-centric culture.
- Bringing together Philippa’s experience of law and financial planning, makes us real experts and market leaders in understanding the challenges facing law firm partners.
